The bliss of a weekend away with nothing else to do but sew! Yes, I was invited along to Juene's Retreat with a few friends - and it was wonderful!! Thanks girl - it was a very special weekend filled with laughter and fun.
A special thank you to Chris for lending a hand with the layout of my quilts. You have a wonderful eye for detail, colour and layout and I really appreciate the help you gave me at the expense of working on your own projects. Thank you!
The strippy quilt top on the top left is my quilt-as-you-go project taught by new tutor, Libby Kaye. And this one one on the right is the back of the project - or will be! :-)) I had some backing left over from another project that I wanted to use so it took a bit of thought to put it together in an interesting way. (thanks again Chris!) I still have a lot of sewing to do but at least have the layout sorted now. And the photographs will be a valuable aid to putting the quilt back together as it was a long way from finished when I left! :-))
Some of the time spent not sewing the quilt as you go project was
spent on making a small Christmas project with the Westalee Puzzler stash busting tool. I love red and have so many scraps in my stash that I REALLY need to use them. This is a mini quilt that is only going to be about 12" square. I could have used the larger tool in the set and had a 24" square little quilt but wanted to use up as many small (2" strips) pieces of fabric from my scraps as possible. A pattern and a class following soon to help you bust your stash too. :-))
The same tool also makes the most gorgeous pinwheels so no prizes for guessing what my next quilt will be - in the larger size! Yes, I really do have LOADS of red in my stash. :-))
And here I am, sewing in my happy little world, doing my homework from Libby's class, thinking.... oh, I wonder how Kay will ever get her homework done... she's so busy, especially busy in the shop, an' all. Just look at you woman! Well done! Looks like i'm the one playing catch-up! hehe! good on you! See you soon, won't be in tomorrow - we're going to Henty Field Day for a looky! Luvs, Vicky

LOL! Still loads to do on it, Vicky. My challenge is going to be making sure the back comes out correctly! Can't wait to put it all together. Enjoy Henty! See you soon. :-)))
