You know the feeling..... gorgeous new fabric arrives and the fingers start itching to sew something. Not a lot of time but I still want something beautiful.....Charm Packs to the rescue!!! Of course, today it had to be French General's Rouenneries Deux Charm Pack! Have I mentioned that I've completely fallen in love with this range? :-)))
Take one charm pack and lay it out in a pleasing design. Sew together.
Find a few pieces of more gorgeous fabric and make borders. Add a square from the charm pack to each end of two of the borders.
Add borders to quilt and "Voila!" A cute and gorgeous small quilt measure 36" square. Perfect for a baby's quilt or on a table, over the back of a chair or settee..... do we really have to have a reason for making a little beauty like this? :-) And yes, we will have this kit in the shop by the end of the day. :-)) Or come in and collect your free pattern - available from today up to and including Thursday 1st March.
And it took me all of four hours, including a lunch break and stopping to chat to customers!! Want to make it bigger? Use a layer cake instead of a charm pack to double the size. Want to use your stash?? It will take a bit more time but cut 5" or 10" squares and off you go. It's a perfect beginners quilt too - all squares and rectangles, not too ambitious but still stunning.
